The tallest peak in Southern Vermont (3,875 ft), Stratton has a vertical descent similar to that of Deer Valley and a mix of terrain that will captivate skiers and riders for several days. Stratton is one of the easiest Vermont mountains to reach from NYC (~4 hours) and Boston (~3 hours). The compact base village offers a range of convenient dining and après options. Ski in ski out accommodations are plentiful and vary from high-end condos and private homes to budget friendly hotels. Stratton is the birthplace of snowboarding (down the road from Jake Burton's hometown, Londonderry) and has some of the best terrain parks in the East. The Gondola enables top to bottom runs with a chance to warm up in between. 

The Sun Bowl side is a treat with longer runs, smaller crowds and slightly warmer temperatures. Manicured groomers and tree skiing are signature features. The downside of Stratton's location are the crowds on weekends and holidays. However, investments in the lift infrastructure have paid off - uphill capacity is top tier (nearly 34,000 ppl /hr - similar to much larger resorts) - or for regulars, consider First Tracks. The ski & snowboarding school is top notch and has a separate racing program.
